Registered Nutritional Therapist, Nutrigenomics Practitioner, Naturopath

I have enjoyed a career in Natural Health spanning over 30 years, but I started my journey into Nutrition and Naturopathy because of my own health issues.

Several courses of antibiotics prescribed for a urinary tract infection had left me with recurrent thrush, terrible gut symptoms, and fatigue.  I was lucky enough to find a great practitioner who taught me the power of food, lifestyle and some helpful supplements and after a few months, I felt that I had got my life back on track.  However, I still had episodes where my health would take a tumble and found it hard to figure out why.

Inspired by the improvements dietary change brought, I wanted to learn more. I decided to train in complementary therapies, first in Massage/Aromatherapy and then as a Colon Hydrotherapist.

Finally, I successfully completed four years of study in Nutritional Therapy and Naturopathy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine. I continue to study, averaging at least 50 hours formal training per year, plus countless hours reading new studies, books, journals etc. to keep abreast of the latest research and thinking.

I worked for 14 years at Homefield Grange, an exclusive, residential Natural Health Retreat where, as Senior Practitioner, I practiced Nutritional Therapy, Colon Hydrotherapy, Intolerance Testing and Live Blood Analysis. I also delivered Educational Talks on a variety of health-related subjects.  In my time there, I saw thousands of clients of all ages and backgrounds, with a huge range of health concerns. I was also growing my own private practice, which has now become my sole focus.

I work with clients Face to Face or remotely via Zoom to suit their preference.  I also see clients referred to me at a Private GP practice in Leicestershire.

The Penny Drops!

I am my own case study and like to try out new tests or supplements on myself before recommending them to my clients.  When I did my first DNA/Genetic test the pennies really started to drop. I could see the genetic explanation for why I don’t process caffeine or alcohol well, why I have to be careful about the chemicals I expose myself to (poor detoxification pathways) and that I have a higher need for certain vitamins and minerals.  I could see also that I don’t process fat or carbohydrates well, so to manage my weight I need to walk a fairly narrow line between the two.

Oh, and that green tea that I was thinking was so good for me, and the turmeric I was taking for back pain?  Turns out that while these are great for lots of people, for those like me who have a variant on a particular gene (COMT), neither of them are that good!

This is why I am now using DNA testing to form the backbone of my Nutritional Consultations. I’ve been on the journey that you are now embarking upon. I understand.

I will work with you to find out what makes YOU tick!
